Free Massages at the Third Annual Community Massage and Wellness Expo
What better way to ease your stress than learning about how to stay healthy and then receiving a free massage? Start your holiday season relaxed by attending the Third Annual Community Massage and Wellness Expo during the American Massage Therapy Association’s National Massage Therapy Awareness Week. Local massage therapists will be giving free chair and table massages on Saturday, October 26, from 10am-2pm at Grand Haven’s Loutit District Library. The Third Annual Community Massage and Wellness Expo, presented by LotusTouch Massage and BOD-E-NOMICS, features free massages, door prizes and drawings for massage services, Yoga classes, and the opportunity to talk to local health professionals.
“We’re hosting the event to promote National Massage Therapy Awareness Week and to show the community the health benefits of massage,” said Wendy Schweifler, CEO of BOD-E-NOMICS and licensed massage therapist. “Also, if you’re looking for a therapist, you can come and try out different styles!”
One Yoga class (12pm) will be taught by Jane Donnelly of Hago Yoga. Yoga is a great supplement to massage because it challenges people to “be here now,” allowing the mind and body to work together with holding specific poses to strengthen and lengthen. Since one focuses on holding and breathing during the practice of Yoga, a state of calm and relaxation has been known to transpire. Yoga is a great supplement to massage because it helps ease tensions, anxieties and stresses of a hectic lifestyle.
Tips and donations will also be accepted on behalf of Greater Ottawa County United Way.
